We represent a lot of tough people who think nothing of going to work injured or sick.  This can be a problem, however, when you have been injured in an  Oregon or Washington auto accident, or any kind of injury where you have a claim.

Insurance companies generally believe, right or wrong, that if you are injured, you will go to the doctor.  Although that is not true all of the time, it is the working assumption.  So, if you are hurt in an accident, and you have a claim, you should not be a hero, and see your doctor.  If you do not, symptoms that you have been dealing with for weeks or months are not reported, and the insurance company will question whether that accident, injury or collision actually caused the symptoms you are experiencing.  It's what we call "causation."

Now, this does not mean you should run to the doctor with every little ache and pain you experience, but make sure you get checked out.  More important than your legal claim is that you are doing everything you can to regain your health, and get going again.

If you have questions about dealing with insurance adjusters early on in a claim, give us a call at 503-325-8600.  We deal with these issues every day.
