One Killed, One Injured After Two Portland Car Accidents

Posted on Apr 28, 2013

Two separate car accidents on Farmington road that left one girl fatally wounded and another seriously injured.

The first accident happened at about 4 p.m. when Janae Doby, 17, was struck while walking on the sidewalk. Witnesses say that the driver, Bradley Gray, 25, was fishtailing just prior to hitting her on the sidewalk. Doby was left with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Gray tried to flee the scene of the accident on foot when two citizens stopped him. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, felony hit and run, third-degree assault, reckless endangering, and reckless driving. He is being held at the Washington County Jail on $20,000 bail.

The second accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when Kylie Hornych, 11, was playing in her front yard. According to reports, the driver who hit Hornych, David Herman, 59, had hit a Jeep Wrangler only a few moments earlier at another location. He was driving down Farmington after that collision at a high speed, witnesses said, when he struck Hornych in her front yard.

The police did not find any signs of impairment and Herman was not immediately charged with a crime. He was taken to the hospital for testing and the investigation continues after this tragic collision.

Di Bartolomeo Law Office, P.C., sends our best wishes for a full and fast recovery to Janae Doby. To the family of Kylie Hornych, we send our deepest condolences for this tragic and unexpected loss.
